Curt Thor
President

Curt Thor, owner of North Bay Real Estate Appraisals based in Novato, CA, has been working as an appraiser for the past 23 years. He got his start in appraising working for the Marin County Assessor's Office, where he worked for two years as an appraiser technician. Curt specializes in the high-end residential market and new construction properties, which were areas he was assigned while working for the Assessor's Office.

Treasurer Jim Overton
Treasurer

Jim proudly served twenty one years in the Air Force, participating in the Korean and Vietnam Police Actions and three years in West Germany during the so-called Cold War. He retired in 1972 to become a real estate broker for the next 7 years. In 1975 he performed his first appraisal and in 1988 he opened his own office, Appraisal Associates of Yuba City. While trying to make a living he became acquainted with two other great appraisers, Jim Trussas, of Redding and Jim Morgan, of Rocklin, and in 1997 they started mapping out a new organization. Now serving the general public with every type of appraisal and just completing his 35th year as an appraiser and his 80th year of life, Jim is very involved in the profession and known throughout the North state. He makes his home in the small City of Yuba City, population 100,000, and has two married boys with their own wives, children and businesses.

SecretaryDana Adams Blake
Secretary

Dana has been appraising since 1985 when her mom, Sue Ellen Adams talked her into becoming an appraiser for her business, Adams Appraisals. She remembers hand writing her first appraisal and attaching a few Polaroid photos. Her mom gave her great training and ethics and she was hooked from the beginning! Where else could she get paid to look at other people's homes, drive the area to look at more homes, perform an analysis at her own home and then determine what properties were worth? Her favorite properties are country and coastal! She really enjoys driving the comparables on those appraisals. Her mom, Sue Ellen died in 1993 but Adams Appraisals lives on. More than 25 years later she is still enjoying the job and the freedoms that come with being self employed. In her spare time, she is an outdoor education day leader and docent with the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation and she also enjoys skating, hiking, bicycling, hula hooping and camping and kayaking with her husband of almost 30 years, Pete. They have two grown children. Their son Brendan is a naturalist and their daughter Alanya is going into the appraisal business starting in January 2011. She just passed the OREA state test for trainees and will be the third generation in the Adams Appraisals family business!!! Dana served as REAA North Bay Secretary from 2007 to 2010 and is happy to serve currently as REAA Corporate Secretary with a passionate and well educated group of appraisal professionals.

vice-presidentPhyllis Hess
Director

Phyllis is a Certified Real Estate Appraiser who came to the High Desert in 2007 from the Sacramento area. She was a member of the Sacramento branch of the REAA and regularly attended TCAF meetings. She became an appraiser after attempting to retire on monies invested in the stock market. You might want to keep track of her activities as, the hospital of her birth was turned into a parking lot, her grammar school was condemned, her high school was condemned, her college moved, the airline she worked for was sold, during her term as a stock broker the market crashed, and now the appraisal industry is showing signs of her affiliation. Enough of that! From this point forward she joins in to make "positive changes" in the appraisal industry beginning with her efforts in bringing together the VVAA with the REAA.

DirectorMark Lindsay
Director

Mark has been a licensed appraiser for 16 years. His career started with a small independent firm in San Rafael, California. He was hired by Bank of America where he worked 8 years as a staff appraiser, senior appraiser and finally on special projects for the national appraisal group. He took a position with Irwin Home Equity as the manager of the appraisal department  managing appraisal services and reviews for retail, wholesale and correspondent lending in 31 states.  A desire to spend more time in his home town lead to a 3 year tenure with Washington Mutual where he won 2005 Kudos award for production, a nationwide recognition for the top 1% in the company. With a variety of production, review and credit risk experience gained in the prior 15 years, he is now self employed and the owner of an independent firm, Marin Home and Land Appraisal based in Marin County, CA. He resides in San Anselmo with his wife and 2 children.

Daisy Singh
Director

Daisy has been appraising for the past 24 yrs.
She is an Oakland transplant that has resided in Pleasanton since 1974. She has degrees in Criminal Justice with emphasis on Law Enforcement and a law school background. Daisy started in the real estate appraisal industry by chance and has grown to love the profession. Here mentors were Al Clough, Barbara Robinson and Nancy Francis (retired). She considers it a privilege to have acquired her skills from good appraisers dedicated to the profession. Daisy is anxious to fulfill her new role as President of the Real Estate Appraisers Association, East Bay Chapter.

Daisy loves her role as an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She adores her grand dog “Diva”, traveling, reading and shopping.

Treasurer Vicki Keeler
Director

Vicki Keeler began appraising in 1987 after being trained by her partner and husband, Tom Maurice. The two appraised in 9 counties but have since concentrated on Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and parts of Yolo.

Vicki was on the first Board of Directors for REAA in 2000. Served 4 years as secretary, 1 year as Vice President and 3 years as President. Now on REAA corporate board.

Vicki was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, which accounts for her "sunny personality". Vicki's love of sports started early. "Dad says I entered the world with a racket in one hand and a bat in the other". Vicki graduated from SB High School and "pretended" to attend SB City College. "Hey, you try going to school in Santa Barbara with the beach and sun all year long". Vicki has since made up for it by attending Sierra College for a computer science degree.
Vicki is endured by her husband of 33 years, Tom and her beloved "Kody" dog. Tom is also a sports nut and shares many a mixed doubles tennis victory with Vicki.
